Online gambling, casinos and cheap insurance, oh my!

The WP spam filter seems to do it’s job very well, catching all the crap that comes in.

I’m sick again, yet another cold – a painful, annoying sinussy snotfest. I have no energy, which is annoying me because I want to do stuff.

I’ve been getting ready to sew. I have 8 NB diapers cut out here on the floor, plus a whole bag full of cut out pockets and covers and pads and breastpads. I’ve overlocked all the trifolds and wipes I cut out ages ago (when I was selling such things) but am waiting on my friend to return my sewing machine so I can continue, but alas she is sick too, poor thing.

I was supposed to have a physio appt today, but got a phone call this morning saying the lady is sick. So it looks like I’ll have to wait til my appt next Friday. I really need to cash in the massage voucher a couple of friends got me for my birthday. Plus get an appt with the cranio-sacral woman.

I went to yoga today, I’ve been going every week and I’m glad that I decided to stick it out, in spite of the chanting ;) It’s weird to see all the girls who were in the class when I started vanish week by week. The new ones just aren’t quite the same.

I had an OB appt on Wednesday and didn’t get to see MY doctor, I got a registrar instead, which I was pretty shitty about. She was nice though, so I put my fighting feathers away, leaving just a thin barrier of skepticism. She signed the waterbirth form for me twice – one for my hosp file and one for
my own records. My dear friend (the sick one) had her baby there and they lost her entire file a couple of days before her DD was born, so I am extra careful about having my own copies of stuff.

I also told the dr that I want a lotus c-section, and asked what I had to do to make sure that happened. Apparently if I have a schedules c/s I will be able to find out a couple of weeks beforehand who will be doing it, so I can then go make my demands of them. I have some nice sky blue panne velvet with silver moons and stars on it with which to make a placenta bag. DP was disappointed at not getting to cut the cord, so I let her choose the colour.

The baby is still breech. Given that he was vertex at 19wks, then breech at 24 and has been ever since, I’m guessing time to turn is now up for me.

BTW Sara asked when we UUers run out of turning room. My OB’s “best guess” was around 32 weeks. I’ve heard from another UUer that her OB said 28 weeks. I’m guessing for me it’s earlier though! My UU is around 1/3 the size of a regular uterus though, so I guess there’s room for variation.

I’ve been doing inversions a couple of times a day for the last 10 weeks and it’s done nothing. A while ago I asked TBB to speak to the baby and ask him to turn, so that he can come out of my vagina. He refused saying that the baby wanted the doctors to cut my tummy open to get the baby out, that that was the baby’s choice. Weird.

Today at yoga I felt very strongly that I could no longer ask the baby to turn. So maybe he’s just stuck as he is and that’s that?

I’m trying to get my head around a c-section. And it’s really really really hard! I’m freaking terrified to be honest.

Brenda asked if a blessingway was a baby shower. Nope – quite different :)

I did the 1 hour GTT on Wednesday as well. I felt jittery all day, and the next morning too. And now I’m eating vast quantities of chocolate. A little strange since for the 1st half of the pg I had a major chocolate aversion.

I have a scan booked in a couple of weeks to check on baby’s kidneys again. I hope they’re ok, I stress about that on and off.

A friend who is about 8 weeks ahead of me (her EDD is about what mine would be if the 1st transfer had worked) said she’d been having trouble with pg dyslexia. Tonight I had the same issue. I was throwing some ingredients in a bowl for DP who wanted to bake. Despite reading about 85 times that the recipe required 3 1/2 cups of sugar and 2 2/3 flour I managed to reverse those quantities. And I also skipped over the “plain flour and 1/2 tsp baking powder” part and chucked in 7 tsp baking powder. There are two rather tall pans of chocolate brownies in our oven right now.

I still haven’t gotten around to checking my email over the last couple of weeks, so if you’re waiting on a reply, please don’t think I’ve forgotten, I just plain haven’t done it yet :)

I’m looking longingly at the extra-large tube of Deep Heat (muscle rub), who’d have thought such a thing would ever look so enticing.

So glad to get the ful update. Sorry to hear you are sick again. Sometimes it is hard to catch a break, huh?

I am so excited to hear about your sewing ventures. It is WAY to premature for me to be thinking about it, but I was talking with a friend about cloth diapers yesteraday and was thinking if I could find patterns for bothe the folds and those fancy covers. My mother is a disposable junkie, but also an obsessive sewer. She is chomping t the bit for some baby related projects, so I am so sike to hear that you are making all of that stuff. It is really cool.

I am sorry to hear the baby is still breech. I know you must be feeling disappointed, but also elevating your anxiety about a c-section. I think your overwhelming sense that he won’t turn is a good step to settling into that idea that a c-section may be necessary. Then, if by chance he turns, it will just be a wonderful and unexpected gift. I wonder if they have started talking about when you will delivery. You mentioned 32 weeks? Man, you are close!

    I am thinking of you.

The thought of tall brownies has me laughing! Sounds like something I would do (even before I got pregnant). Thanks for updating on the baby’s kidney situation, I was actually just wondering when you find out some more info. I’m keeping everything crossed that it will be absolutely fine. Thanks for answering my question about turning for the baby. Sorry to throw one more one at you, but what is a “placenta bag?” It’s not something that is common here, so I’ve actually never heard of it. I am hoping that if you end up having a section, everything turns out smoothly and runs just as you want it to. Not to get on the advice wagon, but can I make one suggestion? We do a lot of them at work, at our hospital one person is allowed in with the mom to be together for the procedure. I’m not sure if it is the same at your hospital, but oftentimes while the other person is getting dressed they forget to grab their camera and leave it outside the room. Then the birth happens and they are sad they don’t have pictures until after they leave the OR. So if you’re into pictures like I am make sure that whoever is coming in with you grabs it ahead of time or gives it to the nurse to bring in for you :-) I’m envious that you can sew, I’m lucky if I can repair a loose button!

The first thing that struck me was: wow you’re really almost ready. The time, at least for me as a bystander, went by so quickly.

I think your brownies sound yummy even with the mixup. But then again, I haven’t had chocolate in a couple of months.

Im not sure how i missed this post. Firstly thanks for the site on the ‘blessing away’. It was a really interesting read.

As for the brownies, well now i would like some!!! BIG TIME!

As for the Lotus birth/c section ….. well you can so have that all to yourself! lol i dont even want to see the cord let alone the placenta. And i so dont want to have it with me after the birth! If I cut my legs shaving i have to get S to deal with it. I just cant handle body bits, blood and wormy looking things! lol
I do hope your dr is all for it since thats what you want though. One of the ladies in my birthing class with Zak was wanting one.

    Hugs
    xxx
